Anime of the Week – Maoyuu Mao Yuusha
If only the hero and the demon king had more self confidence... From the opinion of war being a profitable business to the age-old practice of propaganda involving demonizing your enemies (pun intended) this anime approaches the topic of politics in the most amazingly metaphoric ways.
January 27 Shinsekai Ep. 17 It’s like history has repeated itself. It’s the political war of rule by monarchy or democracy…only with queerats.
January 28 Little Busters Ep. 16 Just because you’re in a position of authority that’s likely to make you unpopular anyhow, it’s no excuse to be cruel.
Minami-ke Tadaima Ep. 1 Initial impression – the sisters return for round four http://wp.me/p1Gaby-Ia
OreShura Ep. 4 As backwards as this sounds, it seems like this series is going the harem route, which might actually make it better.
January 29 Sakurasou Ep. 16 Ayano never just explains to Mashiro what’s going on and instead encourages her to put her experiences into her manga.
January 30 Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai NEXT Ep. 1 Initial impression – not new enough http://wp.me/p1Gaby-If
Love Live! School Idol Project Ep. 1 Initial impression – low budget, low brow (3/10) http://wp.me/p1Gaby-Ik
GJ-bu Ep. 1 Initial impression – standard fare but not boring http://wp.me/p1Gaby-Io
January 31 Mondaiji-tachi ga Isekai kara Kuru Sou Desu yo? Ep. 1 Initial impression – rough-edged, but good-hearted heros http://wp.me/p1Gaby-Is
Sasami-san@Ganbaranai Ep. 1 Initial impression – disappointingly pointless (4/10) http://wp.me/p1Gaby-Iw
Tamako Market Ep. 4 “Slice of Life” is a bit of a misnomer, but “Silly Life that Vaguely Resembles Reality,” doesn’t roll off the tongue.
February 1 Kotoura-san Ep. 4 Awkwardness of some young people regardless of circumstance can often be attributed to inexperience with relationships.
Vividred Ep. 4 This series might lay it on pretty thick, but its themes of friendship feel very genuine and that counts for a lot.
February 2 Psycho-Pass Ep. 15 The Sybil system, while spectacular, suffers from the problem of the all-too-human assumption that it’s foolproof.
Zetsuen Ep. 16 Which is more dishonest? Denying your own feelings or having to go behind someone’s back to be honest with those feelings?
Maoyuu Ep. 5 Neither humans nor demons can take the moral high ground when regardless of who wins, the other side will be enslaved.
GJ-bu Ep. 2 Despite his seeming ordinariness, Kyouya has become nonetheless useful in some way for the girls—ususally as entertainment.
GJ-bu Ep. 3 I should hope that in reality even the most good-natured guy would be able to draw the line at being toyed with to this degree.
GJ-bu Ep. 4 C’mon girls. Let the guys look. As long as his actions never progress any farther than looking, it doesn’t hurt anyone.
Mondaiji Ep. 2 There’s a fine line between reckless endangerment and seeking worthy challenges for the purpose of self improvement.
Mondaiji Ep. 3 Like Maoyuu, this series is also showing a flair for exciting political moves, but also has well-paced action to go with it.
Mondaiji Ep. 4 Satomi Arai always does a great job portraying some really fun characters and she’s doing well as the moderator Shiroyasha.
Minami-ke 4 Ep. 2 I’m not sure Touma is on the right track to find her feminine side by cutting up furniture to make stuffed animals.
Minami-ke 4 Ep. 3 I don’t know what the point is for the girls to get into character when they put on the maid outfits but it sure is funny.
Minami-ke 4 Ep. 4 Subtlety can be a useful tool, but it shouldn’t come at the expense of just being forward and avoiding confusion.
